Infant Oral Care

Proper infant dental care includes much of the same steps taken by adults: good oral hygiene, injury prevention, and of course regular check ups. In an effort to educate our parents regarding these vital issues, we have implemented an Anticipatory Guidance and Risk Assessment Program.

Gum care should begin within a few days after the baby is born. By using a damp washcloth or gauze pad wipe your child's mouth after each feeding. This removes harmful bacteria which causes gum tissue infections and also stimulates the gums so that teething will be a little less uncomfortable for your infant. By doing this routinely you are creating a healthier environment for the eruption of the primary teeth.
